In The Dog House Poem by Faith Elizabeth Brigham

In The Dog House

give me a little time
and i'll get over
being angry with you
for making my day
a bigger challenge
than it would've been
without you here
the simple truth is
i can't stay mad at you

sometimes it seems
you are in the dog house
more than you are out
but i guess that's life
with you canine creatures
growling and fighting
chewing things you
ought not to be gnawing on
and dropping carpet bombs
in every imaginable spot

i'm always mopping
and cleaning up after
i've been away at work
all day just wanting
to relax and put
my feet up for a while
but that's the way
it is with us humans
still the three of you
are a terrific trio
and i do cherish you
