amidst her battered body
a sweet and tender smile
the portrait of bravery
in a thwarted battle
her heavy head held high

words are not enough
tormenting silence confines
her broken speech
words painstakingly selected
her soul still shimmers brightly

steadily her heart beats
thumping gently against her breast
her body immobilized
she sits uncontrolling
waiting, wondering, wishing

enveloped, strangled, repressed
breath no longer her own
her body consumed
she governs only thoughts
and then.......

...........Hush.
thoughts silenced
her pulsating chest quieted
in tranquil beauty, she lay unmoving
a battle lost. a battle won.
