In Loving Memory (Sean Bell) Poem by Jeffrey McCambridge

In Loving Memory (Sean Bell)

Rating: 5.0

When the sky matches the day
And things seem to be in balance
Because the heavens are a dark gray
Our hearts are weighted down
With the burden of fifty shots
Our cross to bear
Forged one by one from a row of cops;
Today we mourn a fallen friend
Our joy, never knew life would end.

The sun always sets first
On the darker side of town
One week from the church
Etched a widow’s frown;
Rest in peace my brother,
Rest in peace, Sean Bell.
I guarantee this on my mother,
For this they will pay
But today is for remembrance
When the sky matches the days
And all things seem to be in balance
We still get no justice.
