In Life Poem by Francis Duggan

In Life

In life there are winners and losers at least that is what we are told
And some die in their youth and in mid life and some live on to be old
The reaper does not respect winners or losers since he claims the lives of all
He does not discriminate or differentiate to his scythe all life forms must fall
The great as well as the unheralded writers the artist who knows of wealth and fame
The monarch, the president and the billionaire the reaper does treat as the same
As the poor who are Homeless and hungry the reaper does not differentiate
The reaper treats everyone as equal yet not one does want him as a mate
In life people never stop learning we've been learning before we started to crawl
And most dream of fame and of becoming wealthy with their names on the hall of fame wall
Our dreams they are never of failure we all have our dreams of renown
Who would wish for to spend years in prison and who would not wish for wealth and renown
But the reaper treats everyone as equal he treats the haves and the have nots as the same
Yet none ever does embrace failure and most yearn for wealth and for fame.
