In Britain Now Poem by Joyce Hemsley

In Britain Now

Elderly ladies ~ sweet and cute
Belong to the Women's Institute
Where they enjoy attractive arts
And sing beside their counterparts
Equals with golden hearts.

Outings in the summertime weather
Keep them close, keep them together.
Talking of their dearest dear
Man of their dreams who died last year
Sweet words of sympathy they hear.

'They will not cease from mental fight'
As they follow the gathering tonight
Christian ways they understand
Shaking friendship's amiable hand
In Britain's historic wonderland.

Before the start of every meeting
The ladies sing their beautiful theme.
'And did those feet in ancient times
Walk upon England's mountains green? '
The title... Jerusalem.
