In A Courtyard Poem by Chibueze Oscar Osuji

In A Courtyard

Across the corner lay the bard
Amidst drifting voices so loud;
I am the bard in the courtyard
Scribing notes hidden from the crowd.

Across the corner lay the bard
Among the crowd, writing is hard
For when 'tis noon, noises are peak
Vocal sounds make my pen so weak;
Across, you'll find a bard so sad
Across the corner lay the bard.

Amidst drifting voices so loud
Voices so high reaching the cloud;
Hard to find my muse very oft
For words travel wide and aloft
In a yard fill'd with poor and proud
Amidst drifting voices so loud.

I am the bard in the courtyard
Standing by the door 'hind a guard
Take no notice of him, just wink;
Each winks, he brought back a new ink
A new ink makes a court-bard glad,
I am the bard in the courtyard.

Scribing notes hidden from the crowd
To write for th' crowd is disallow'd
Inside the courtyard domain;
Writing to myself is no gain,
I won't be found again, i vow'd:
Scribing notes hidden from the crowd.
