In 2055 Poem by Udisha Nundlal

In 2055

In 2055
Will I be alive?

I have dreams of
Flying cars
And trips to Mars

Most of all
I'm worried about global warming
Greenhouse gases, melting ice caps, earth drowning

In 2055
I want to be alive
To breathe clean fresh air
Will humans dare to care?
To save the polar bear

In 2055
I want to stroll through a green park
Children laughing while dogs bark
No fear, no crime
Free and safe
Time after time

In 2055
I will be there
Older and maybe some grey hair
With polar bears
And flying cars to Mars
A world free from wars

I have dreams
That the humans would have dared
To have cared
To be there in 2055

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
this poem is dedicated to my son Yash Nundlal, who seems to have a very inquiring mind and asks tons of questions about everything. I wrote this poem in 2012.
