Imminent Deluge Poem by Chris Jibero

Imminent Deluge

Over us heaven's belly grumbles disturbingly
As though it is constipated acutely
Clouds gather in the skies ominously
As soldiers called up for a crusade
Here and thee overhead
Bolts of lightning frequently flash ferociously
As press cameras clicking away in an arena of darkness
And havoc-wreaking thunder booms and looms intermittently
On its destructive trail
Marching slowly and steadily
Unrestricted in its catastrophic advent towards us
But nude children lacking parental care
Ignorantly run about jubilantly
In innocent anticipation of one of the usual normal showers
That have taken the place of lullabies
Because mothers have lately joined fathers
In shameless carousing sprees
Inverted honeymoons of dying spouses
Which have left them in drunken stupor and terminal hangovers
Presented publicly in staggering mouthing of obscenities
Like Noah's kinsmen and neighbours
Hence we damn our own souls in derision
Of repeated about an impending comprehensive deluge
Written boldly on the feverish heavenly wall
Because we are a people who do not know history at all.
