Imitation Is Suicide Poem by Jayvin George

Imitation Is Suicide

Imitation is suicide.
May I take you on a little bit of a rough ride?
Can I question your judgment for just one moment?
The clothes, jewelry, multiple women, and cars, why do you want it?
Is it because you see it as the glamorous life?
Because when you think about it in great detail it resembles a double sided knife.
You would rather dress nice than to invest and learn.
And then dress up in jewelry to try and hide the burn.
The burning of a lost soul that knows no peace.
Wanting the riches, women, and cars can transition into becoming a beast.
All the mind knows is what the media shows.
But behind closed doors you really take some blows.
You get frowned upon for wanting better.
Some people are like "nah man sell this and get a Gucci sweater".
And for a moment you question why go to school when you can get it like this?
But getting it "like this" can have you down and out praying your trial gets dismissed.
People need to understand that one cannot be stripped of his or her knowledge.
And that is why it is so powerful to say no to drugs and yes to college.
They say education is the key to success so why leave the door locked?
Some people are satisfied with being like "oh well at least I knocked".
But when knocking is just not good enough, then what's left?
Living a life of poverty, drugs, and when it gets hard auto-theft?
You are killing yourself trying to get riches.
It would be like throwing a fishing pole into a dry lake but expecting fishes.
Do not be satisfied with just knocking at the door.
Try your best to get in and you will learn so much more.
