Imagine If. For My Cousin Poem by Ryan Brodesser

Imagine If. For My Cousin

Will it come? Will he ever stand?
on the day, the time to release his hand
The day, he rises from his Physical restraints
A miracle, worth the attention of the holy saints
A wonder to behold, as he he walks freely, pure to the cure
Through halls and rooms, unaided, confidently to the door
Question is, though where would I be, and will he ever need me anymore?

At the sight of miracle, will I cry would I weep?
And Will I lose any sleep?
All the golden memories, all the years
Helping him, up, loving him, laughing with him, drying his tears

Would I laugh?
Weep for joy, as he walks a steady path?
Yes, I would, in joy and delight
Joy, to see the death of his hardest plight

Would we play
Me and him
Laughing and joking as two sorrows are broken, play till the very dim of day,
Play, in the hot air of may.

Would he talk?
me and him, at the table, the outside light dim.
Chatting away our distress, and to say the simple sentence that will make us brand new
A simple, phrase, “ I love you.”

Would could I teach him, preach to him
now that he’s able?
All the things a boy ought to know, now that he’s physically stable.
and to laugh, in nights hour, playing cards on the table.

Alas, these things are still perhaps not to be
He is still trapped, an earth bound tree
Yet, he is a smiling soul, at a happy age
A beautiful bird, trapped in a cage
mind happy, body trapped
Little choice allowance, to a chair strapped
still, I wonder, what I would do if it were to be
What would I do, if he longer needed me?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Well this is about a relative of mine, who is mentally and physically disabled. He cannot talk, or even move on his own, and everyday I wish it were to be as he is a normal boy. I love him, I always will though, no matter what. Please review.
