Illusion Poem by Suzae Chevalier

Illusion

Rating: 5.0

I should look at the man for what he is

and not for what I imagine he could be.

Because I know my expectations could hurt me.

I am the only one I should focus on, and forget pretense.

For, if I set up in my mind what I want to have happen—

Life baffle us mortals—who don't look to Jesus the Son

-we cling on and never let go of the outcome.

But, we always seem to be able to press on

to another illusion in hope it does comes true
for we can need to be healed of our illusions
no wishful thinking and luck of the draw will do.
For I have learned that our life is more than the physical
that we can see with our physical eyes.
We have to be reborn in the Spirit
to be healed by the Holy Spirit
who is our friend who does sympathize.
