Illusion Poem by Isaiah Alexander

Illusion

ILLUSION

Happiness?
Happiness is a way to forget the true horrors in life. Happiness is just a mask casted upon all humans to hide us from fear, like how an ostrich hides its head in the ground or how a snail hides in it shell. Happiness is the humans shield against reality, death. They say live life to the fullest, which is to be happy and don't let anything hold you down but what's the point of living if you die anyway. Everyone fears death. Everyone wants to live but no one can escape death. Death will always be at your door but you can never predict when it will break the door. Happiness is just a temporary defense against reality, until it catches you and then you realize the heartbreaking truth about life. Happiness is just an illusion.
