Illusion Poem by Clark Ashton Smith

Illusion

Oft have I seen the sunset-fires
Illume the slumbering fen's extreme,
With splendour like a seraph's dream,
Or the fair light the soul desires.

In avenues of cypress-gloom,
The graveyard-loving moon forlorn
Has often seemed a ghastly morn -
Or silver cerements on a tomb.
