Ignorance Kills Poem by Zena Blank

Ignorance Kills

They say ignorance is bliss
They're wrong
Ignorance ruins us
Let's us watch others fall apart
While we don't want to help for fear of being labeled
Perhaps we just don't want to deal with others problems
We let them rot
The ignorance of our society
Blinds us with smoke
Stings our eyes
Clogs our throats
Ignorance cuts us
Every ignored tear
A cut
Every person we knew needed us that we ignored
A cut
Every scream that we turned a blind eye to
A cut
Another
Another
Until we turn into the ones who need help
Now we regret our ignorance
For now we are the ones in need
