If You'Re Anything Like Me (To My Daughter) Poem by Kerri White

If You'Re Anything Like Me (To My Daughter)

Rating: 5.0

If you're anything like me,
you're gonna scrape your knees.
If you're anything like me,
you'll hold in every sneeze.

If you're anything like me,
you'll cry at one harsh word.
If you're anything like me,
the smallest thing will get on your nerves.

If you're anything like me,
you'll outspeak every speech.
If you're anything like me,
your skin will burn at the beach.

If you're anything like me,
you're gonna get really sad
when thinking about the things that have hurt you
the people who did it and just how bad.

If you're anything like me,
you'll sing the words to every song.
If you're anything like me,
some people in your life simply won't belong.

If you're anything like me,
you're bound to let them go,
but if you're anything like me,
they'll regret hurting you so

If you're anything like me,
your head will be stronger than your heart,
if you're anything like me,
you'll fight to keep everything from falling apart.

If you're anything like me,
you'll stand up for what you believe.
If you're anything like me,
there's no tellin' what's up your sleeve.

If you're anything like me
and someone tries to interfere,
you'll lay out all the options
and make their indignities very clear.

If you're anything like me,
you'll be goofy in the morning, but insanely sleepy early in the night.
If you're anything like me,
you'll love silly knicknacks and unuseful, decorative lights.

If you're anything like me
you'd give it all away
just to have a daughter
you'll love like this one day.
