If You Must Go Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

If You Must Go

Rating: 5.0

My love, if you must go -
Do not fret,
I shall wait for your return.
I shall busy myself painting landscapes,
Or butterflies or perhaps the seashore,
Where last we played and loved...
I'll write sonnets for hours on end that
Tell the beauty of you and me,
Or write love songs rhymed just for you,
For the whole world to sing.
So my love if you must leave me,
Just remember while you are away,
That my love grows with each dawning,
That my love is here to stay.
