If You Asked Her Why Poem by Maria Mullin

If You Asked Her Why

If you asked her why
She’d simply state
Because I cried
So many useless tears
If you asked her why
She’d simply say
Things never went
my way
She had a plan
Her dream was big
But she thinks you ran
She never told you
She was too afraid
Of what you would do
But when you walked away
She still felt betrayed
She thought you could see
Through her happy smile
See through to her plea
Please don’t go
I love you so
I need you here
Don’t go
Please no
