If you are cruel to an animal be it dog cat or mule
Or any other sort at heart you are cruel
If you can kick your pet then a person you can beat
Sad to think people like you live on every street
Those who are cruel to their pets say they are cruel to be kind
For their poor behaviour such an excuse they find
Cruelty to animals or people one read of and hear of every day
By those who are lacking in self love that does seem sad to say
The man who beats his dogs to be cruel his enjoyment in life
Is the man who too does beat his children and wife
For to beat your pet is physical abuse
For violence through cruelty there cannot be an excuse
To kick with your boot or to hit with your hand
To be cruel to be kind I do not understand.
