If The God Had Given The Tongue Made Of Glass! Poem by Dr.V.K. Kanniappan

If The God Had Given The Tongue Made Of Glass!

Rating: 5.0

If the god had given the tongue made of glass,
After thinking the pros and cons of what we say,
We would have excelled with extreme clarity
In the habit of delivering only the golden words!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Hi,
This poem 'If the god had given the tongue made of glass! ' is a translation by me of a Tamil poem by Poet Meyyan Nataraj of Sri Lanka.

Many a problems imposed on human beings due to unnecessary and harsh words uttered by tongue would not have arisen if the tongue would have been of glass and had uttered only golden words. However, since life is life and different feelings and experiences add spices to it and make it worth living. In absence of some categories, the life would have been monotonous and boring. Off course, this is my opinion. Thanks for sharing a nice and insightful poem.10 points. Regards.

If the glass falls down, it breaks into many pieces which cannot be made to unite into one glass, Similarly, by using the tongue abusing somebody, the words cannot be taken back, once the damage is caused, it is going to be final for the relationship.
