If Only I Could Talk To You (The Things I'D Say) Poem by Zsa'mine Hopkins

If Only I Could Talk To You (The Things I'D Say)

If only I could talk to you the things I'd say
And when you'd try to leave I'd ask you to stay
My first word would be WHY?
Why couldn't you spare his life?
Why couldn't you just try?
It couldn't be that hard to have sympathy for a man who has done nothing wrong
A man who's supposed to be going home to a baby boy that's growing big and strong

If only I could talk to you the things I'd say
I would tell you how I went to bed every night crying
How I woke up every morning trying
Trying to go on each day
Trying not to forget what he'd say

If only I could talk to you the things I'd say
I'd tell you how you made my uncle a statistic, and no matter how hard we tried we couldn't fix it.
I'd tell you about this very man who taught me how to ride a bike
A man who truly and dearly loved his life

If only I could talk to you the things I'd say
The things I'd say
The things I'd say
And the faces I'd make
Had you changed your mind we would've never remembered that day
The day of Janurary 15,2010
The day that was his end
The day that changed your life and ours, and made me say these very things that I'd say
If only I could talk to you the things I'd say...
