If Only Poem by Gerhardus Keen

If Only

Rating: 5.0

If only I could turn back time
If only I could see
If only a light would shine
If only I wasn't me

If only things could work out great
If only we weren't poor
If only the world were in a better state
If only there was a dimensional door

If only there were no wars
If only we could love
If only lies didn't leave any scars
If only there were no dark clouds above

If only we could live in peace
If only we didn't kill the animals
If only we stayed on our knees
If only we had enough water canals

If only we didn't wish our life away
If only we cared for our children
If only fathers didn't go away
If only it was a better world we stayed in

If only people didn't murder
If only there was enough food
If only I didn't hurt her
If only I could make her feel good

If only I didn't let her love me
If only I was tough
If only I wasn't so lonely
If only my love was enough

If only this was a dream
If only everything was okay
If only I didn't wake with a scream
If only it was a year ago today

And this 'if' would not come as comrade if we do not understand underlying significance of this word. /// greatly written

An insightful train of thought, well articulated and nicely brought forth in good diction from the heart. If only we'll accept the fact that in life there's always ups and downs; if only we'd not conceive of life without difficulties... Faith keeps those that keep the faith. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing Gerhardus.
