If I Had A Dollar Poem by vern eaker

If I Had A Dollar

Rating: 5.0

If I had a dollar for each tear I cried for you
If I had a dollar for each fragment of my heart
I would have more money than a fool could spend
It would take a life time to lay them end to end

The dollars would circle the world not just once but twice
They would be no use to me no happiness could I buy
They would continue to add up as I continue to cry
Worthless dollars that could buy nothing pleasurable or nice

If I had a dollar for tear I cried since you’ve been gone
If I had a dollar for each time you crossed my mind since
I would have no dollars I would have no cents
I have not allowed myself to think of you in so long

I don’t require money to make me smile
Now that you are longer here to give me pain
And tears will no longer fall again
I can again find happiness for awhile
