If I Ever Were Poem by Tanmayi Mukundan

If I Ever Were

If I ever were a butterfly
So colorful and bright
I’d sit on the prettiest flower
And give you the most wonderful sight

If I ever were a dew drop
From the rain, glittering and falling by
I’d sit on your finger tip
And show you your sparkling eye

If I ever were a feather
Colored, light and slender
I’d touch your lips so soft
Imparting a kiss so tender

But if I ever were a diamond
I’d shy and turn away
For I’d go unnoticed on someone
More precious than me any day!
