If I Am Forgotten Poem by Lama Abbas

If I Am Forgotten

If I am forgotten
Like a smell…. a touch…..
That heart knew not to love

If I am sinking
Where I not know
In the endless tides flow…..
With tireless winds I go…..

If I am less loved
And the skies above
I scan for ceaseless beauty
In shapeless figures move
Horizons of gold
Scattered and exhausted light
On the sheets stretched
Purple, orange and white

If I am forgotten
In memories I wake
Loiter in vacant thought
Wind in open spaces makes tracks
To wander….to astray…

If forgotten not stay
Words in simplicity of loveliness I say
Undertakings and strife
Weigh victories unaccomplished
Through the toil of day

If I am forgotten
When I need to be remembered…
Loved the most…
If I am forgotten
When my soul is homeless
And finds no dwelling
In your care…your thoughtfulness…
I shall be lost
In fanatic rage of different believes
In traceless turmoil of ever deepening soul
In maddening philosophies of too high thinking
Minds employed for what heart not seeking.
