If God Gives Me Five Minutes Poem by Ayandare Mayowa

If God Gives Me Five Minutes

If God gives me five minutes,
I will ask you to forgive me,
All the times I talked when I ought to listen,
When I was too busy to reason,
The times I said never when I ought to make peace,
When I complained rather than say please.

If God gives me five minutes,
I will ask you to pray for me,
All the times your heart did not bless,
Perhaps because I did not impress,
Urging you to release all the blessings,
All that God has placed at your mercies.

If God gives me five minutes,
I will ask you to sing for me,
The song you usually sing whenever I am a year older,
Prophesying everything will be in order,
Telling me not to worry,
Because you are going to make me happy.

If God gives me five minutes,
I will ask you to enlighten me,
How do I fair in this dark vain world?
Where people take advantage of you strength,
And thread gallantly on your weaknesses,
What must I do to be worthy?

If God gives me five minutes,
I will ask you to confide in me,
Given the second chance, will you marry?
If yes, will it be my daddy?
Will you choose our family?
As your children, did we make you happy?

If God gives me five minutes,
I will ask you to convince me,
Why you decided to live just now,
When you have held up till now,
You did not even wait to taste of the fruit;
Which resulted from your laboured vine.

If God gives me five minutes,
I will ask you to reason with me,
What’s with the hurry?
Shouldn’t you for more time tarry?
You know I really did not know you,
Give me more time to catch up.

If God gives me five minutes,
I will ask you to tell Him for me,
Can’t ask all my questions in five minutes,
Neither in five thousand, five hundred and fifty five minutes,
You don’t belong there just now,
Your home is here for now.
