If Butterflies Are Free Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

If Butterflies Are Free

Rating: 5.0

If butterflies are free
We must abolish acrylic
Boxes,
Paper weights,
And tiny bottles with
Tastless flowers...
Butterfly nets,
Picture frames,
And
Collectors who boast to know
Them all by name,
And
Little boys
Who pinch their wings...
Dead butterflies are such
Unseemly things.

I'm with you! I love this 'little' poem. It's like a beautiful butterfly! As soon as they are captured, their beauty and magic is lost. For this same reason, I don't want to over analyze your poem, just enjoy it's beautiful music...
