If Branches... (Mihai Eminescu) Poem by Paul Abucean

If Branches... (Mihai Eminescu)

Rating: 5.0

If branches tap my window pane
And lonely poplars quiver,
It is so you return again
And stay with me forever.

And if the stars above the lake
Its very core enlighten,
It is so that away you take
My pain, my mind to brighten.

And if the moon regains the fore,
Those foggy clouds dispelling,
It is so I forever more
Remember you, my darling.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Being in accord with nature and her rhythms is the hallmark of human excellence. The poet has that accord and demonstrates it in his life and love being entwined in natural things. There is an optimism at the core of this poem and it stems no doubt from such a trait in the poet himself. He is preparing himself to be a true and honest partner.
