Idiot Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Idiot

Rating: 5.0

Idiot
- - - - -
Sometimes mild
Sometimes violent
Who knows?
What will follow next?
A thought goes up in flight
Only to see it crash landed
On persons or things
With a word idiot with delight
And what prompts people
To use it in little weight
Out of love or out of contempt
And that is to be perceived yet
Though people utter it like this
Today is spoilt because of you…..idiot
Buses and trains running late…idiot
Warmth is not felt
As clouds halting sunlight….idiot
Flowers not blooming
Everything looking gloomy…..idiot
And this is executive's darling word
Used against X, Y and Z
Not conforming to work….idiot
And against wives
Not listening to husbands….idiot
And sometimes by elders
Against children for their mischief
Oh, how sweet it sounds
When used by them
They bark but bite not
Is it the sign of love or contempt?
Perceived not yet…

Very truly this word Idiot has lost it's true meaning even by becoming a cliche. I will not be surprised even hearing somebody is praying Oh' Lord You forgive me because You are my Lord as Oh' you forgive me because you are idiot ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The term 'Idiot' has now become almost a cliche that it through over use has lost its rough edges! Some use it as a highly disparaging term while some use it even as an endearing word! With some, it is a habitual way of addressing some one close! Any way the word seems to have lost its original insulting connotations! A unique subject to be chosen for a poem, Deepak! Enjoyed!
