Ice Poem by Robert Sheridan

Ice

Tissue-paper thin but
take a courageous step
no mattress-stuffing here;
Cut a hole in it to see
what lies beneath the
blue-green abyss;
Maybe things frozen
but for a few short
minutes in time;
Like a relationship
gone south – you
break through;
Not on the cake
but rather skat-‘ing’,
can’t go against the tide...
