I Won My War Poem by sam gale

I Won My War

Rating: 5.0

I've lynched my emotion high and dry
left in the confusion of my last lie
I've lynched my emotion high and dry
swinging softly in the twilight sky

Vision cursed with oceans red
like darkened walls when you're all but dead
Vision cursed with oceans red
whilst driplets ring filled with words unsaid

Hellish cries for the answers untold
with a broken heart that has been burnt so cold
Hellish cries for the answers untold
waiting for this life to perfectly unfold

But the battles over and the sun now shines
on a life that was trapped between two lines
But the battles over and the sun now shines
on a war field trampled a thousand times

Even upon night fall the fires still burn
on a heart without passion who needs to learn
Even upon night fall the fires still burn
on a soul without despair or concern

I fought my battle and I won my war
Like being made of metal and surviving the storm
I shot down the enemy and I saved the weak
I took my wounds and I let them leak
but it's all done now as I hunt my peak
but its all done now as the glory I seak
