I Wish I Had Another Name For This Sadness Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Wish I Had Another Name For This Sadness

I WISH I HAD ANOTHER NAME FOR THIS SADNESS

I wish I had another name for this sadness
It repeats itself
And I say it over and over again
No poem will come of this dumbness
I am alone with an endless aching
I fear and ask for help
Why should G-d bother with my little nonsense
When there is so much greater pain in the world unanswered?
I am alone now with my sadness
And the light of the universe is shining somewhere else
These lines like so many other lines are a band-aid on the wound
Time not only will not heal but will fester into death-
