I Will Return To You Poem by Tess Rockenstire

I Will Return To You

Summer sails in sheltering heat
In the island of Samar,
Views of mountains,
Is the pinnacle
Of lullaby, of poise.
Like a guardian standing
To welcome the vast
Entrance of the sea.
Here my people fish in the ocean
With their nets along the bay.
Here in the grassland
The water buffalos graze.
Farmers like my old man,
Under the sun
With sweltering heat,
plow the ground.

The night is quiet
As I lay under -
The silver moon
The throbbing -
Of my heart
In concert -
As the pacific ripples.

When morning comes
The eastern shore
Smiles.
Like a bohemian rhapsody,
Tickling and enticing my
World of curiosity.

But this is my home,
Where I belong
Calling me to come home,
My place in the eastern shore
Her beauty is vast.
My agile heart
Shall return to my birth place.
