I Will Remain True To Mother Nature Poem by Francis Duggan

I Will Remain True To Mother Nature

Rating: 3.0

I have written reams of verses though my books are slow to sell
But had I written of sporting heroes for myself I might do well
Still I'd rather write of Sherbrooke and it's majestic gum trees
And the songbirds of the wooded hills singing in the freshening breeze.

I could write of cricket and athletics and Australian rules football
And the deeds of sporting heroes in my rhymes I could recall
But I'd rather write of Nature and the wildborn and the free
And the river that flows downhill through the flatlands by the sea.

Had I written of the social elite I might know a greater fame
And beyond the borders of the street I live in mine might become a well known name
But I do not wish to pander to the high percentage who
Make the big egos far bigger to myself I'll remain true.

I will remain true to Mother Nature she is bigger by far than man
Mother Nature lives on forever she does not have a time span
I could write of king and monarch, movie star and sporting great
But I'll remain true to Nature and her I'll celebrate.
