I Will Not Die Soon Poem by Nur Meiyati

My son asked me
Did you cry when your mama died?
I was startled
What made him ask me such a question?

My mother is still alive
She is 'eyang', your grandmother
Who loves you much
My father, your grandfather, passed away
Long before you were born

I will not cry if my mother dies, he said proudly
You mean me, your mama?
'I will just play games all the time”
He likes computer games much
And he has been crazy of making animation recently
That is so amazing,
A wonderful work, I think, for his age

I tried to read his mindset
But you see you can play games
Even when mama is still alive
Just don't be too much
And I will not die soon
As long as I am discipline to take care of my health
I will see you grow up
And be with you
His eyes sparkled
Relieved
He smiled
