I Will Never Be You Poem by Katy Rotundo

I Will Never Be You

Rating: 5.0

A mother is suppose to love her child
A mother is supposed to care endlessly about her child
What the hell are you?
Your not a mother
Well, at least not mine
You think it is okay to promise me things
And never hold onto that promise
I got no call
On my birthday
Nothing
A week later I got a text
You said you lost track of the days
I hear you're getting married for a second time
Within a year, to a different man
I was not told by you
I voiced my opinion
And you acted like you didn't even care
I have to thank you for one thing though
Because of everything wrong that you have done,
You have taught me one thing
How A Mother Is Not Supposed To Treat Their Child!
I will never look up to you
I will never be you
I will love my children
I will show you how a mother is supposed to be
Long after you're gone.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is about my mother. I had found out the day before that she was getting married, but she was not the one to tell me, I was told by my brother. I told her that i did not agree with this marriage because she just got a divorce from her ex husband, whom she wasn't even married to for a year. She had promised me that she was not going to get married to this new guy after i found out that she was engaged to him after a month. My mom has not been there for me since I was 7, I am now 19. I know people have it worse than i do when it comes to their parents, or anyone else for that matter. I do not get mad, and argue, when i am mad, sad, and upset, I write. This poem is dedicated to the woman who gave birth to me, Connie Case (White) .

Katy writing is the best therapy in the world. When I am upset, sad, happy or have any emotion I write. This relieves my stress. We cannot make people do as we wish them to. All we can do is live our lives the best we can and let them deal with theirs. Keep writing you have a talent
