I Will Be Safe Poem by Nur Meiyati

I Will Be Safe

This hill is an ancient volcanic edifice
Let's climb up the hill, you said enthusiastically
But when we got there
We learned it was too steep and slippery
Deep ravines were on both sides of the path
Wait for me here
I will just check it
You scared me
You touched and rubbed my shoulders
Thanks for worrying me
“But I was always safe
And I will be safe”
You waved your hands, and smiled
I sat on the grass
Playing with the soil and anything that I could play with
Just to kill my worry
But then you returned
“Why? ” I jumped for joy
I cancelled it
I didn't want to make you feel worried about me
Seem I could not convince you
That I would be safe
I smiled
Relieved
And you hugged me
