I Was So Lonely Until My Wife Came Home Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Was So Lonely Until My Wife Came Home

I was so lonely until my wife came home-
And this reminded me of all my lonely years,
And made me think again of all the lonely people
And especially of the old, hopeless in their loneliness-
And I thought of a friend who alone, claims not to be lonely
And another friend who despite her large family
Feels her own lack of spouse as loneliness and depression unbearable-

Loneliness is such a hard thing-
Even for a few hours it hurts-
My wife came home and made me feel at home again
God bless her.

What a lovely poem, Sir. If everyman and every woman is bold enough to say this truth, the world would be the better place for the young, middle and elder couples. Well done..
