I Was Hurting Poem by Pamela Mote

I Was Hurting

You looked into my eyes
Before I started to leave
You didn't bother to question why
You didn't seem to care about me
My feelings showed all over my face
You were blind to notice
And when I finally walked away
I was hurting
But my heart didn't hit the ground
My tears didn't roll down
My hands didn't slap your face
Instead I smiled and walked away
I couldn't say the words
Besides, you already heard them before
I don't regret feeling what I felt for you
It was all I could do
I realize its not meant to be
I'm not the one for you
But in the end, I wish you were the one for me
I hid the pain that tore at my body
I hid the tears that overwhelmed me
I wanted to touch you
But that touch would have burned me
You very well knew
I was hurting
