I Want To Hear You Poem by Jeri Martindale

I Want To Hear You

Rating: 5.0

I see you standing here in front of me, I see you speaking to me, your mouth is moving but I cant hear a sound coming from you lips, but I want to hear you.

No... Green smoke has been unleashed again. Thick and consuming, surrounding you, engulfing me. I reach out for you; I can no longer see you clearly. I am not letting you go, but I am beginning to slip, but I want to hear the words on your lips.

This is when most have me wrong, I do not let go nor do I give up on what I want. From the outside my light may appear dim. Most have to look again. My heart is on fire, blazing, burning bright deep inside. That flame has always pushed me along. You see, my soul is strong, I want to hear you.

I dig my heels in the ground below me holding on with all my might. I can't let go, I will never give up. I want to hear the words your lips were making earlier tonight.

Beginning to choke, again the green smoke? My eyes go dim, its getting darker as my eyes close. Fight or flight kicking in; looks as if I will be fighting until the end to hear you.

How many times do I have to explain that deep inside (the person you often don't see) I won't go down, I will not run. I am standing here not intimidated, but intimidating! I am in your face. I will win, why you ask? Because I believe! life=destiny, no matter what falls down; I will always want to hear you.
