    @Anand Betanabhotla:
    Wordsworth was a member of the leisured class. His great task in life was to fill his time without succumbing to boredom. The daffodils obviously helped, but I'm not sure he led a joyous life, in spite of his privilege.

    It's a wonderful poem, which I like very much. (Report) Reply

    ...For oft, when on my couch I lie
    In vacant or in pensive mood,
    I read these lines as 'leisure and laziness bring out the best in man' (Report) Reply

    I wondered lonely as a girl
    Seeking a poem in my book
    When all at once I came across
    Wordsworth's poetic outlook. (Report) Reply

    I love this poem...did anyone know that Wordsworth was actually kind of a hard guy to get along with according to his friends and family...apparently his ego was flabbergasting as Huxley put it...but hell, if your name is WORDSWORTH, aren't you almost DOOMED to become a poet? ! (Report) Reply

    This poem was featured in a movie called The Namesake based on a book by Jhumpa Lahiri. It's actually how I learned the first few lines. (Report) Reply
