I'Ve Come A Long Way Poem by Ninja Soul

I've come a long way in life.

I look at things differently,
from the way I used to.
I've become more ill-natured,
and I don't trust so easily.

I used to trust people so easily,
but I've been betrayed too much,
to allow myself to trust so easily.

I used to care about what others thought of me,
and I'd let people run me over,
and take advantage of me,
but not no more.
I'm done allowing people to run me over.

I used to hate the military,
didn't see no use for it,
but now I love it,
especially the marines.

I used to label myself,
but not no more.
I believe labels are stupid,
and only gives others rights to judge,
to judge others outside of their group.

I've come a long way,
and I've learned a lot.
I'm sure though,
that I'll learn even more,
throughout my years of living.
