I Think Poem by Juan Olivarez

I Think

I think
I have seen enough desert stars.
I have seen mountains covered in snow
I think I've seen enough of chrystal clear skies
I think I have seen enough Ravens
In the early morning light.

I think
I have seen enough of the desert willows
With their purple bells
In the desert sun,
I think I have seen enough
Of desert sunrises, and sunsets.

I think
I have seen enough twilights
And felt enough desert breezes at end of day.
I think I have felt enough chills
When a coyote calls out in the deep desert
And I have felt enough goose pimples on my forearms.

I think
If God called me home right now,
I would go happy and content
With a song in my heart.
But I love the desert,
And God knows, he created a liar.

All I can do is think. Knowing is beyond my ken.
