I See Your Face Poem by Madeleine Wolf

I See Your Face

I see your face
And I wonder
What will take its place.

I try to get it
Out of my head,
But it comes right back.
I see it instead.

I see your face
In the back
Of my mind.
I wonder
If it will always be there,
Or if it will go away in time.

When I see it,
I can almost feel
My fingers trace
The outline of your face.

I see your face
And I wonder
If I'll ever again
Have the pleasure to place
My lips against it.

I see your face
And I wonder
What will take its place.
