I-Scream Poem by Vani Agarwal

I-Scream

30 minutes-exhaustive workout, I was half dead,
the park bench was hard, how I missed my soft bed!
The 'cling-cling' of the bell introduced he had come,
the fantasy of the kids and dread of every mum.
THE ICECREAM MAN!
I yayed and reached to my pocket, but wait.
I just burned it off, ice cream slows down the rate.
Maybe I'll have half, maybe just a spoon more,
what are the new flavours? Coffee, Apples and S'Mores!
No. Self control. I am not doing it.
I have to the restore myself bit by bit.
So I sighed and leaned back,
watching the kids gorge on this lovely snack.
See-Saw girl had a Waffle cone,
Cranky guy had a Blueberry scone.
The baby ate in a cup so small,
The twins had popsicles and fought for one's fall.
I could hear her slurp, hear him bite.
See then savour, this was the hardest fight!
I got up. I had to leave.
There was nothing I could do to end this peeve.
The smell of cold yum followed me,
I gave in and ran to the ice cream fasters than the waves in a sea!
I stood there for 2 minutes, before taking a chocolate covered Waffle cone delight,
and shrieked excitedly as I took the first bite!
I loved it but promised not again,
Maybe I should start practicing 'zen'.
But I said that yesterday too,
After I finished eating my Popsicle Ala Blue!
