I Saw A Man Drowning

Rating: 5.0

I saw a man drowning
unknowing
Greif lapping against his soul
mournful waves of nostalgia
creating their own under tow

rising up for the first time
he called in a voice that railed
but the wind blew away his echo
on a sea that only he sailed

I saw a man drowning
unknowing
In a sea of memories and tears
searching the sea for a lover
he'd known for so many years

Rising up for the second time
he called out the sirens name
but the angry waves of his sadness
made certain that nobody came

I saw a man drowning
unknowing
uncertain of what I had seen
I know he was here and we loved him
or was that just in a dream

He rose to the surface a third time
he called as if in a song
but the world could barely hear him
in a moment we knew he was gone

I know I saw a man drowning
floating away on the sea
sailing into his dreamtime
to a place where he could be free

Calm sea gently rolling
ebbing away his fear
I know I saw a man drowning
In water as deep as a tear.
