I Never Met Him Poem by Elia Michael

I Never Met Him

I never met my other grandfather,
My father's father is the one I mean,
I have his name but I would much rather
I'd also had his literary gene
Enabling me to write accomplished verses.
Now that, would be a trait that I'd admire!
The skill to write a poem which converses
On any subject of your heart's desire.
If truth be told we met when I was born,
And so for fifteen months we knew each other.
But from our native country we were torn
To join our father, you and I and mother.
Of course, I don't remember my granddad,
He died, when I was but a little lad.
