I Must Be Addicted Poem by Francis Duggan

I Must Be Addicted

I must be addicted to penning of stuff
With me it does seem no such thing as enough
In the Literary World good writers are rare
There are plenty like me in the big World out there.

Though the penning of doggerel is never a crime
It is easy quite easy for to write slipshod rhyme
My better days in life long over and gone
But with a penning addiction I keep penning on.

The beauty of Nature is all around me
And everywhere I turn to look great beauty I do see
The sights, sounds and scents of Nature to the senses delight
Were I a poet to Nature poetry I'd write.

Of my shortcomings as a writer I am all too aware
It is said poets are born and poets are rare
And though some aspiring young poets may see themselves as worthy of note
It is a great title the title of poet.

I'm addicted to rhyme or it does seem that way
And I am one who pens more stuff every day
To say I could quit writing on my behalf would be a lie
I will be penning stuff 'til the day that I die.
