I'M Sorry...But Not Really Poem by Emily Wang

I'M Sorry...But Not Really

This is my apology letter
I'm sorry
I should've known better.
But I was young.
Stupid.
Wild.
And carefree.
Can you blame me?
I didn't know what life was.
Didn't know how easy it is to lose.
I'm sorry for making your hair turn gray.
I'm sorry for causing you pain each and every day.
I'm sorry for not being worthwhile.
I'm sorry for ruining your smile.
I'm sorry for not being who you wanted me to be.
I'm sorry for just being me.
I'm sorry for not living our your dreams.
I'm sorry, that I had other dreams in which I believed.
This is my apology letter, in a way.
You weren't right,
and now I know better.
I'm doing what I want to do,
I'm taking risks,
because now I know how easy life is to lose.
