I'M Choked Poem by Karla Bell

I'M Choked

I want to scream so loud
I want to cry
But I’m choked
I want to think straight
I want to understand me
But I’m choked
I want to see
I want to dig a tunnel
But I’m choked
I want an answer
I want to pray
But I’m choked
I wish the hands around my soul would push off
But they don’t seem to want to let go
They want to choke me
Not kill me
Just play a choking game.
I’ve got to get the strength to pull them off
To breathe and breathe and take big gulping breaths
I don’t want to scream
I don’t want to cry
I don’t want to be choked.
