I'm A Word Slut Poem by Patti Masterman

I'm A Word Slut

Rating: 5.0

I'm a word slut from the get-go:
Like giving word snobs the heave-ho
Read poems fast forward and slow-mo
Like word association free-flow
Hold dictionaries in escrow
To pulpit clerics never kowtow
Always pick the word apropos
My brain in syllabic tidal flows
Doesn't like being status quo;
For dead words, I'm a carrion crow,
Never let my vocabulary plateau;
Exist as conundrum, head to toe.

ok, Slut caught my attention. [NO! i don't mean the author.] then i read the sole comment i found (no Poet's Note) and at first THOUGHT it was the poet's note for some reason. yeah, PH has problems sometimes, but i still like it. it is free! and there are some 'great' people and fine poems on it. as for rating the poems, i never do (unless the poet 'begs') except by my words, some stern and some very pleasant. ok, now to read the poem. it's not about my 3rd wife, IS IT! ? [and speaking of technical stuff on PH, if you want to make I'M into I'm in the title, i think i can help.] my vocabulary leveled off at about 2000 words when i was 18; not all are swear words, i swear! haven't learned a new word since. i just ignore the ones i don't know. maybe that is why i have trouble understanding some of the poems? bri :) yes, nice flow, and i appreciate (one of the last words i learned...in high school) and the ryhming.

A lot of us have become fed up with the PH 'technical difficulty' BS and moved over to poetfreak.com. Check it out. Like PH used to be, only better. (No rating the poems) .
